Good reasons to book a telephone consultation

Telephone works well for:

  • iconDiscussion of blood test / scan results
  • iconFollow-up of ongoing conditions
  • iconMental health reviews for known conditions (where you are safe and stable)

    Minor, low-risk problems such as:
    • Simple colds and viral infections
    • Mild, uncomplicated urinary symptoms in non-pregnant adultss
    • Hay fever
    • Medication side effects

When we will recommend a face-to-face review

We do not offer telephone-only consultations for:

  • iconFeverish illness in adults or children
  • iconNew musculoskeletal injuries or joint problems
  • iconSkin rashes, lesions, or moles
  • iconAny child or adult where there are safeguarding concerns
  • iconProblems that clearly require physical examination (e.g. earache, abdominal pain, new shortness of breath)

In these situations we will recommend an in-person assessment, either with us or via NHS services.

We can arrange blood tests nationally if required for general health checks and also any specific medical conditions

Important safety information

We are not an emergency service. For urgent or life-threatening symptoms, call 999 or attend A&E. This includes:

  • Severe chest pain
  • Stroke symptoms (e.g. sudden weakness, facial droop, confusion)
  • Severe shortness of breath
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Seizures
  • Suspected overdose or self-harm
  • Labour
  • Turning blue, or severe allergic reactions with breathing difficulty
  • Drowsiness, especially with fever

We do not prescribe strong opiate painkillers or other controlled drugs.
